Saying goodbye to an international music business mogul: Prince.
At first blush, you might suspect this first link doesn’t have much to do with business. Unless, like me, you take every chance to do things your way. In that sense, then, perhaps we’ve lost much more than a musical icon.
We’ve lost a living example of living an intentional life.
From his personal life, his sexuality, his music, and especially his approach to controlling the business of his music. In all things, he did it his way.
Prince was every bit as savvy an entrepreneur as he was a gifted artist. But don’t take my word for it, just ask the Wall Street Journal, Inc., Entrepreneur, and others.
Generations to come will remember His Purpleness for his music—yes, of course—but also for his fierce independence in all aspects of business, fighting for copyright reform and the end of an antiquated notion of artist fealty to major recording houses.
Pour one out for Prince: an international music sensation and underrated entrepreneur.
